The choice of vegan sausages available can often bewilder. From the traditional Linda McCartney's Vegetarian Sausages made with rehydrated textured soya protein to Vegusto's Farmhouse-style Sausage.
This dish features the Linda McCartney vegan sausages served on mashed potatoes with thyme and shallot gravy. Simple and easy to make, it's a hearty and quintessentially British dish! The mashed potato was made with salt, pepper, Pure spread, oat milk and English Mustard.
On their own vegan sausages have many successful beer pairings. Their often earthy and herby taste works well with Belgian Pale Ales, Saisons or the French Bière de Garde. The slightly malty and dark fruit flavours of a Dubbel also compliment the taste of vegan sausages.
When it comes to the traditional British dish of 'bangers and mash', the perfect beer pairing has to be a British Bitter. Copper in colour, these are dry and bitter. They display plenty of peppery notes which combine with the herby sausages, along with nutty malts and a slight fruitiness.
